Experience

 Elizabeth Garrett Ryan, AAA has worked with decorative arts objects for 20 years and is a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America. She has a master's degree from the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture, where she trained in the connoisseurship of American and English silver, furniture, ceramics, paintings and textiles. She has also completed coursework in decorative arts at the Winterthur Winter Institute and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts Summer Institutes.  

She is a native of Charleston and has a bachelor's degree in anthropology from the College of Charleston. Before joining Alice L. Patrick & Associates as an appraiser, she was the director of museums for Historic Beaufort Foundation.  Mrs. Ryan served on the Board of Directors of the Preservation Society of Charleston from 2009-2016, and is an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston and Clemson University, teaching graduate courses on the history of American interiors.
